Farewell to Yankee Stadium

When I went to the game on Saturday, I parked in the parking garage on 153rd street. It is a further walk to the new stadium, but after getting lost in the middle of the Bronx on my last trip alone, I decided it was be smarter for me to just park at the nearest parking garage. That being said, because I parked so far away, I had to walk past the old stadium. I happened to notice a crack between the walls to which I could take a peek into the park. What a sad sight it was indeed (if you click on the picture you can see it larger).

I've been into Springsteen a lot as of late and Glory Days seems to be a fitting song for this and also my life in general.

That's depressing. It's going to look strange not having Yankee Stadium there.

We'll fell old when we tell people someday what it was like to go to Yankee Stadium.

now, now.

School and work can be crushing, but you're only 22, your glory days are ahead of you.

The palace that Greed built vs the House that Ruth built? I'll take the old Yankee Stadium. I went to the old stadium before it was refurbished na dremember its beauty. I remember seeing how shiny and new the Stadium looked in 1976. It was amazing and was a ton better than that dump in Queens. Very sad that they did that , yeah they have another profit center BUT they also have a moat, empty seats behind home plate and an insane payroll! Thanks, Levine and Trost for destroying that, I'm happy that you maximized your profits beyond belief and now have empty seats you are embarrassed about. It was one thing to refurbish the Old Stadium, BUT destroy it? Such a shame. I've been to Fenway, Old Comiskey and Wrigley and there was nothing like them...except the original Old Yankee Stadium which was lost in 74-75. And soon those memories of the refurbished park will be only that...memories.

Bruno- You have to see the piture I took when I was at the game Sat. I will post it later. It was taken in the 4th inning and basically 80% of the lower level seats were empty. Was a sad sight and it shows the Yankees have pretty much priced people out. I know the rest of the stadium is packed, and that they are still drawing record crowds, but you cant ignore the fact that most of us arent seeing as many games or sitting as close to where we had been in the past. Who can honestly afford (or even justify) paying over 1,000 dollars (over even 500 dollars) for one regular season game?

Maureen- I guess your right about that, though some days I do wonder. Still a good song, nonetheless
