Fight in the Bronx

Lovely brawl in yesterdays game, which all began because Mark Melancon is having issues finding the control that he once had in AAA. After hitting Hill (Toronto's best offensive hitter this year) square in the back, Carlson threw behind Jorge Posada. So far behind him that the ball missed him and rolled to the backstop. Posada wasn't thrilled with this and the benches had cleared. Nothing happened and the game continued.

But then our lovely catcher decided to nudge Carlson who was backing up the catcher in case of an errant throw. In looking at this clip from TSN, you can clearly see that Carlson is looking around for the ball and covering the plate. Many Yankee fans believe that Carlson initiated this fight by standing in Posada's way, but I still cant see that. And even if that was the case, Posada could have been a bigger person, just walking around him as he headed back to the dugout.

Look at this clip though. The things that stand out to me are Shelley Duncan pounding his way through the pile, try to take out Rod Barajas. Check out 7:26 as Shelley takes on Rod and pretty much throws him to the ground. How crazy is he? Also noticed Edwar (who weighs about 90 pounds) pulling at Barajas' equipment, trying to pull him out of the pile. Not sure why he was doing that but Cito didn't seem too pleased.

Shelley is a monster. He could very well get a suspension for this too.

Posada is really a douche. The Yanks hit Hill and Ruiz and that Carlson throw was payback quite frankly. Unitentional OR not , the Jays had to fight back. BUT Carlson didn't even hit him! Whatta entitled cry baby Posada is. He's their defacto Captain? That's very sad indeed.

Christina, what's funny is that when Pedro used to hit Yankees left and right , I railed aginst that, even though I am not a Yankee fan. I hated that Torre never retaliated. BUT in this case, Posada was 100% wrong in this case, he provoked this fracas.

"Lovely brawl..."

So well put, Chris.

If someone would have clocked Duncan, Swisher, and A-Rod, my life would have been made.

Thanks for posting this Christina as I did not see this! Great example Posada setting for his kids here. He should be suspended the rest of the regular season, not 4 games as the Daily News is reporting. Shelley probably thought he was auditioning for the WWE.

Good post. Shelley's just crazy and Posada is a little too emotional at times.

That said, he could probably just some rest down the stretch, but he set a poor example.

Rob: Yep he did get suspended, and rightly should have. I see he is trying to appeal the suspension though

Bruno: Posada was 100% wrong and people defending him are ridiculous. I think a 3 game suspension was a joke though. Should have been more but I guess I shouldnt complain.

Eye: you are too much. Still laughing over that Wells/Arod quote.

Commish: No Problem :) Not sure about Shelbert, as he seems to be part of these fights. Hes a tiger ready to attack

Kyle: I agree. This rest will be fine for Posada.
